The legendary Hotel Zvezda in Murska Sobota from the year 1910 that was a cente of social as well as political life in different historic times is opening its doors again in the year 2006. In 1919, from its balcony, the people of Prekmurje proclaimed "The Murska Republika" according to the people's right of self-determination wich, however, lasted 6 days only but the event is still nowadays impressed in the people's collective memory. The hotel rooms in Biedermeier style are situated in the new hotel section separated from the old section by a glass facade and the reception.
